Volma buys gypsum plant and quarry in Kazakhstan
29 September 2023Kazakhstan: Russia-based Volma has completed its acquisition of a gypsum plant in Inderborsky, Atyrau Region and a nearby quarry. No value for the transaction has been disclosed. The company noted that the stone extracted from the quarry has a gypsum content of 94%. The plant has started recruiting employees and will supply the local market with products under the Volma brand. Reports in the Russia-based media in August 2023 indicated that Volma was preparing to buy a plant in Kazakhstan with a production capacity of 120,000t/yr of building gypsum and other products.
Volma to buy gypsum plant in Kazakhstan
03 August 2023Kazakhstan: Russia-based Volma is preparing to finalise the purchase of a gypsum plant in Kazakhstan. The unnamed target of the acquisition has a production capacity of 120,000t/yr of building gypsum and other products, according to the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper. The transaction also includes a gypsum deposit. Discussions for the acquisition first started in February 2023. The plant is expected to become part of Volma in the third quarter of 2023.
Knauf to build wallboard plant in Kazakhstan
22 June 2023Kazakhstan: Germany-based Knauf has signed a deal with the government of the Zhambyl region to build a gypsum wallboard and dry building mixtures plant. The project has a cost of around Euro30m, according to InterFax. Completion is scheduled by 2026. Local subsidiary Knauf Gips Taraz is now developing design and estimate documentation for the construction of necessary infrastructure. Products from the proposed plant will be sold in the domestic market. The project is one of nine agreements between organisations from Germany and Kazakhstan announced during an official visit by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Kazakhstan: Alina Group plans to invest US$112,000 in the construction of a gypsum wallboard ‘mini factory’ in Almaty Region. Kazakhstan Newsline has reported that the company expects to commission the facility in 2022. The group is already engaged in the construction of two building materials plants in the region, at a total investment cost of US$35.9m.
Kazakhstan: France-based Alphaplatre has won an order to supply a plaster tile production line for Alina. The scope of supply includes preparation and mixing, tile molding, drying and semi-automatic palletisation. No commissioning date has been released.
Zhambylgips to resume gypsum wallboard production
14 June 2021Kazakhstan: France-based Saint-Gobain subsidiary Zhambylgips plans to resume the production of gypsum wallboard. Kapital News has reported that the move will create jobs and lead to the development of transport infrastructure in the area, according to the company.
JSC ZhambylGypsum gypsum unit starts operation in Kazakhstan
07 February 2017Kazakhstan: JSC ZhambylGypsum has started operation of a gypsum unit and a calcium carbonate unit at a production site in the Zhambyl region. The project cost around US$78m and each unit has a production capacity of 0.27Mt/yr, according to InterFax. The production units are intended to become part of a larger gypsum plant that will be built at a later date.
Kazupak Trade opens gypsum plant in Kazakhstan
26 January 2017Kazakhstan: Kazupak Trade has released information about the construction of its 500t/day gypsum plant in Taraz. Construction work at the site started in 2015 and it was commissioned in October 2016. Equipment for the plant was bought from Turkey's Erişim Makina. The plant started full operation in November 2016. The gypsum producer intends to build a second production line within the next 10 years. It sells gypsum under the brand 'Kazgyps.'
JSC Zhambylgips to modernise gypsum plant in Zhambyl
23 July 2015Kazakhstan: A new gypsum building mixtures plant will be launched in Zhambyl by the end of 2015, according to the Kazinform International News Agency. The project has been initiated under the state programme, 'Industrialisation Map of Kazakhstan.'
JSC Zhambylgips is modernising the existing plant for US$9.09m. Once complete, the plant will have 270,000t/yr dry compounds and gypsum products capacity and will employ 50 people. It is assumed that the plant will produce about 600t/day of gypsum. The products will be delivered to local and foreign markets, mainly in Russia and central Asia.
Zhambylgypsum to start gypsum production in late 2015
26 September 2013Kazakhstan: Zhambylgypsum plans to start a gypsum production line in the Zhambyl region by the end of 2015, according to the ADM Kazakhstan Capital Restructuring Fund.
"This will be the first such facility in the post-Soviet era. The plant will produce 600t/day of gypsum and 15m3/hr of fluff perlite, 7t/hr of calcite flour and 30t/hr of dry mortar," said Zhambylgypsum head Kaynarbek Kusayynov.
ADM Kazakhstan Capital Restructuring Fund, part of Kazyna Capital Management, provided funds for the project, in particular for the expansion of production capacities and purchase of gypsum calcination equipment. ADM KCRF was set up in 2010 with capital standing at US$100m. Its main investors are the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and JSC Kazyna Capital Management.
