Claudius Peters’ parent company increases sales by 40% year-on-year in 2022

01 March 2023

UK: Langley Holdings, owner of Claudius Peters, recorded consolidated sales of Euro1.17bn during 2022, up by 40% year-on-year from Euro815m in 2021. The group ended the year with an order backlog worth Euro900m. Its Other Industrials division, which includes Germany-based Claudius Peters, recorded sales of Euro277m, up by 11% from Euro250m. Langley Holdings said that, due to the length of its lead times, Claudius Peters’ profitability was especially impacted by costs rises in its delivery on existing contracts in 2022.

Chair Anthony Langley said “Hopefully management will make progress with tangible improvements to the plant machinery business: restructuring is not the preferred option, but, either way, I do expect a better result this year.”

Dahab Sinai orders gypsum plant from Claudius Peters

28 March 2019

Egypt: Dahab Sinai for Manufacturing and Building Materials has ordered a gypsum plant from Germany’s Claudius Peters to be built in the Suez region. The new plant will be used for the production of basic plaster for wall and ceiling plaster products. Construction is scheduled to start in early 2020 with commissioning to follow in the the third quarter of the year. No value for the order has been disclosed.

Claudius Peters will supply a grinding and calcining plant with a EM47 type mill with a stucco throughput capacity of 25t/hr. A homogeniser for product optimisation is connected behind the calcining process. After the cooling process the produced basic gypsum can be adapted to the market requirements by adding setting regulators and hydrated limestone. This part of the plant is also included in the scope of supply. The finished product is bagged by means of a four spout packer RotoFill type R6/4L with a capacity of 1137bags/hr. Various silos, a truck loading and unloading plant, the complete electrical equipment and control systems as well as the raw material handling with corresponding conveying technology are also part of the delivery.

The new plant will be used to supply the local market but exports to Africa and Europe are also planned. The plant is designed in such a way that further plant equipment can be installed at a later stage. The mixing plant can be extended with the admixture of further additives. Furthermore, a reserve space for the later retrofitting of a bag applicator with loading equipment has been taken into consideration.

Claudius Peters launches new Rotary Drum Cooler

13 October 2017

Germany: Claudius Peters’ has launched an upgrade to its Rotary Drum Cooler (RDC) that is intended to low energy costs and includes new features. The product operates on the counter-current indirect principle re-using cooling air as preheated combustion air for the hot gas generator, with a reduction in plant energy costs. During the cooling process, the RDC enables homogenisation of materials, with reduction of unwanted calcining by-products such as soluble anhydrites and dehydrates. The cooler can handle up to 100t/hr of product.

“We are proud to have been supplying the gypsum industry with cutting-edge products for more than 20 years. Our Rotary Drum Cooler deploys state-of-the-art technology to maximise plant efficiency by reducing maintenance and energy costs,” said Claudius Peters’ managing director Reiner Fruehling.

Other features of the RDC include trunnion bearings, central axis feeding and discharge, aeroslide feeding and discharge, variable speed motor for soft start-up, improved automatic lubrication system and optional inlet housing for external cooling air.

Claudius Peters reports continued low capital investment in key sectors

14 February 2017

Germany: Langley Holdings, the UK-based owner of Claudius Peters, has reported that its subsidiary’s revenue fell by 14% year-on-year to Euro106m in 2016 from Euro124m in 2015. Claudius Peters’ orders on hand rose by 13% to Euro50.3m from Euro57.7m. The plant engineering manufacturer noted that the industries it serves, including cement and gypsum, remain at a ‘low point’ in their business cycle and that capital investment is low.

“The division’s order intake did improve in the final quarter and with commodity prices coming off the bottom there are signs that the climate is improving, although it is too early to call a recovery. In all, the results were satisfactory in a still much subdued sector,” said Langley Holdings chairman Anthony J Langley. He added that poor markets in Brazil and Russia affected the division’s results. However, Claudius Peters China performed ‘quite well’ due to export projects with Chinese contractors and divisions in France, the US, UK, Spain and Italy did well.

Gyproc Saint-Gobain installs Claudius Peters EM Mill in Sweden

15 April 2016

Sweden: Gyproc Saint-Gobain has commissioned a new Claudius Peters type EM 65-592 grinding and drying mill, to be installed at its Gyproc Balsta plant.

The project, which includes dismantling of the existing mill and erection of the new one within a six-week time frame, uses Claudius Peters' newly developed hydraulic tensioning system for adjustment of grinding pressure. This system, installed here for the very first time, has been specially developed to optimize the efficiency of the grinding and drying processes and also to aid maintenance.

"This new EM drying and grinding mill, representing the very latest in technology from Claudius Peters, delivers unprecedented levels of efficiency and precision. We are delighted to be partnering with Gyproc Saint-Gobain in this project," said Stephan Oehme, sales director for Claudius Peters.

Commissioning of the new mill is planned for the middle of July 2016.
