Mada Gypsum Company appoints Sami Helmy president
29 February 2024Saudi Arabia: Mada Gypsum Company has announced the appointment of Sami Helmy as its president. The company noted Helmy’s distinguished track record in the industry and considerable experience in leadership roles. He has served as operations director at the company since 2017, and was previously technology director at The Industrial Group and Banawi Industrial Group. Helmy is a mechanical engineer by training, holding a degree from the University of King Abdulaziz in Jeddah.

Gypsum mining bidders revealed by government of Saudi Arabia
10 October 2022Saudi Arabia: Eight companies have been accepted by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources to offer bids for an exploration license for gypsum ore at the Al-Qasab wells mining site. The preferential bidders include Saudi National Gypsum, El-Khayyat Gypsum, United Cement Industrial, Global Gypsum Company, United Mining Industries, Mada Gypsum and ASK Gypsum, according to the Arab News newspaper. The proposed site is located south of Nabat in Al Madinah province. The initiative is part of the government’s plans to further develop the country’s mining sector.
Mada Gypsum launches new brand identity
21 April 2022Saudi Arabia: Mada Gypsum plans to reposition itself as a solutions provider, while retaining its core offer of gypsum wallboard. Accordingly, it has launched a new brand identity under the motto Building Excellence. Gulf Construction News has reported that the company is seeking to increase its offering of gypsum wallboard internal lining solutions and to maximise its production of components for its system solution in-house.
President Greg Smith said “Mada Gypsum has been repositioning itself and building capabilities with a focus on promoting itself as a system provider. This shift from being a plasterboard supplier to systems supplier was an important differentiator that allowed us to leverage the strength we have with our other products such as metal profiles, ceiling tiles, glass matt sheathing, fibre cement boards and joint compound.” Smith concluded “Our evolution now to a solution provider is a natural progression, as we have the structure, the people and the products in place.”
Mada Gypsum to invest US$67m in new gypsum plant
02 January 2015Saudi Arabia: Mada Gypsum Co, part if Al Rajhi Building Solutions Group and a Saudi producer of gypsum wallboard and related gypsum products, plans to build a new environmentally-friendly gypsum plant in Saudi Arabia. It will meet the increasing demand for gypsum and modern building materials and systems in the GCC and the Middle East.
The new US$67m investment will provide work for around 200 employees. It will have a production capacity of approximately 30Mm2/yr of gypsum wallboard and related gypsum based products and systems.
"We see promising growth in the building solutions market across the GCC region, driven by the strong fundamentals of the construction industry," said D Khalid S Al-Rajhi, chairman of Al-Rajhi Building Solutions Group. "Setting up this new plant in Saudi Arabia also confirms the strategic importance of Saudi Arabia as a platform to serve markets in Africa and Europe in addition to the GCC. The investment confirms our commitment to maintain leadership in the industry."
"The new plant will be equipped the with latest state-of-the-art manufacturing machines and production technology," said Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Bassam, CEO of Al Rajhi Building Solutions Group. "The plant will have a capacity of 30Mm2/yr and is scheduled to commence operation in the third quarter of 2016. Mada Gypsum Co is also proud of the environmental benefits associated with the new plant: This is a genuinely green project. The gypsum on site will be processed and removed, returning the site to its natural state."
