Kyrgyz government bans imports of gypsum products
02 April 2025Kyrgyzstan: The government has informed the World Trade Organisation and the Eurasian Economic Commission of a temporary ban on imports of gypsum boards, tiles and other products. CA-News has reported that the ban will remain in force for six months.
Indian anti-dumping measures against Chinese and Omani gypsum wallboard to remain in force until end of 2028
11 January 2024Asia: India’s new anti-dumping duty on imports of gypsum wallboard from China and Oman will remain in force for the five-year period up to the end of 2028. The Hitavada newspaper has reported that the duty also applies to gypsum tiles.
Tajik government inaugurates Khatlon gypsum wallboard plant
02 January 2024Tajikistan: The government has inaugurated the new 30Mm2/yr Khatlon gypsum wallboard plant at Yavan. Central Asia Economic Outlook News has reported that the plant produces four different specifications of gypsum wallboard, as well as ceiling tiles and metal profiles and supports.
Mada Gypsum launches new brand identity
21 April 2022Saudi Arabia: Mada Gypsum plans to reposition itself as a solutions provider, while retaining its core offer of gypsum wallboard. Accordingly, it has launched a new brand identity under the motto Building Excellence. Gulf Construction News has reported that the company is seeking to increase its offering of gypsum wallboard internal lining solutions and to maximise its production of components for its system solution in-house.
President Greg Smith said “Mada Gypsum has been repositioning itself and building capabilities with a focus on promoting itself as a system provider. This shift from being a plasterboard supplier to systems supplier was an important differentiator that allowed us to leverage the strength we have with our other products such as metal profiles, ceiling tiles, glass matt sheathing, fibre cement boards and joint compound.” Smith concluded “Our evolution now to a solution provider is a natural progression, as we have the structure, the people and the products in place.”
Kazakhstan: France-based Alphaplatre has won an order to supply a plaster tile production line for Alina. The scope of supply includes preparation and mixing, tile molding, drying and semi-automatic palletisation. No commissioning date has been released.
