Asia: UK-based alternative building products developer Adaptavate plans to launch its Breathaboard and Carbonboard wallboards and Breathaplast plaster across markets in Asia. The Gear by Kajima will collaborate on the launch, including hosting Adaptavate’s first-ever Asian demonstration at its Singapore headquarters.

Adaptavate has confirmed an upcoming project in Asia with a ‘multinational partner,’ and is currently exploring potential production and supply-chain partnerships to deploy its technologies at scale.

CEO Tom Robinson said that the Singapore installation “Shows how Adaptavate's products can integrate into Asian construction systems today — without disruption — while delivering healthier, lower-carbon buildings."


US: The Madison County Board of Zoning Appeals has approved a special use for Roy's Recycling to continue to operate its gypsum wallboard recycling plant in the county in Indiana. The Herald Bulletin newspaper has reported that the special use is subject to a ban on new wallboard intake and the continued processing of current inventory of 30,000t at 5000t/yr.

The plant had reportedly stored material outdoors in violation of its previous special use, leading to dust and water complaints from local residents.

Owner Randy Scott said "There are orders for everything produced. There is a need." He added that the company had planted 5000 trees in the vicinity of the plant to serve as a windbreak.


Belgium: Etex recorded sales of €3.75bn in the 2025 financial year, down by 0.8% year-on-year, but up by 2% on a like-for-like basis. Recurring earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (REBITDA) were €698m, up by 0.4%, and by 5% like-for-like, from 2024 levels. Net recurring profit reached €269m, up by 2%. Etex made capital expenditure investments of €299m, up by 13% year-on-year.

Etex’s full annual report for 2025 is due on 9 April 2026.


UK: Saint-Gobain subsidiary British Gypsum has launched Thistle MultiFinish gypsum wallboard finish. The producer says that the finish retains the same formulation and performance characteristics as existing products that require trowel finishing, while also being suitable for spray application. The company carried out tests on plasterboard using Agrekom Spray Plaster, Kosner MK20, Predator Pro Spray Plus and TurboMax TX770 spray applicators.

British Gypsum notes that spray application of finishes best suits mid- to large-scale construction projects.


Canada/US: Knauf’s North American subsidiaries CGC and USG have launched new Sheetrock gypsum wallboard products in their respective markets. CGC has launched Sheetrock Ultralight ProPanel gypsum wallboard in Canada, while USG has launched Sheetrock Ultralight Tough gypsum wallboard in the US. CGC describes the Sheetrock Ultralight ProPanel as ‘The industry’s first lightweight 12.7mm gypsum panel,’ while USG described Sheetrock Ultralight Tough as ‘engineered to survive the bumps, drops, and daily demands of the job.’ A new formulation reportedly strengthens the board’s edges.

USG said that production at additional plants will follow the original regional launches.


Kazakhstan: Knauf Gips Kapchagay has launched Sapfir gypsum wallboard. In a post to LinkedIn, deputy sales director Andrey Kresler told followers that the product combines moisture, fire and impact resistance with increased sound insulation capabilities.


Philippines: The government has enacted anti-dumping duties of 8.5% on imports of gypsum wallboard from Thailand-based Gypman Tech and of 9.2% on those from other Thai exporters. BusinessWorld News has reported that the measures will remain in force until the end of February 2031.

An investigation by the Department of Trade and Industry found that 71% of imports and 40% of total consumption of gypsum wallboard between 2019 and September 2024 was ‘dumped.’


Saudi Arabia: National Gypsum Company CEO Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Ghadeer will step down on 9 April 2026, following his decision not to renew his contract. National Gypsum Company will announce the appointment of a successor ‘in due course.’


India: Saint-Gobain India Gyproc has commissioned a near-zero CO2, 5Mm²/yr gypsum ceiling tile plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The plant will produce the company’s Gyprex brand of polyvinyl chloride-laminated gypsum ceiling tiles, Hindu BusinessLine News has reported.

National managing director Sudeep Kolte said that the plant will enable the producer to scale its lower-carbon ceiling products offering ‘closer to key markets.’


Oman: The Port of Salalah handled a record 26.4Mt of cargo in 2025, up by 17% year-on-year. Mist News has reported that dry bulk gypsum, along with limestone, was the main driver of growth in the year.

Chair of port services Braik bin Musallam al Amri said regarding the minerals that "Demand remains firmly on an upward trajectory."


Uzbekistan: The government has announced plans to more than double the value of exports from the Republic of Karakalpakstan to US$900m, from US$435m in 2025. Daryo News has reported that the government will target the region’s mineral reserves for increased exploitation, including its 6.5Mt of natural gypsum. Planned industrial and service sector projects in the autonomous republic up to 2030 are valued at US$7.2bn.
