Peru: Etex says that an upgrade to its Huachipa gypsum wallboard plant is currently being built and should be operational by mid-2023. It is intended to double the production capacity of the unit, according to the Gestión newspaper. The company has invested Euro36m in the project.
Etex markets its wallboard under the Gyplac brand locally. Robert Haanschoten Rodríguez, Etex’s Andean Region Marketing Manager, said that the country exhibits a strong self-build market. Gypsum wallboard sales represent 20 – 25% of the group’s sales in the country. Since 2018 sales of wallboard have grown by 50%. The country reportedly has a wallboard consumption of 0.7m2/capita compared to 4m2/capita in Chile. However, increases in the cost of raw materials have led Etex to put its product prices up by 5 – 12% across all lines.
Gyplac to rebrand as Grupo Etex
05 October 2017Colombia: Gypsum wallboard producer Gyplac and cement producer Skinco Colombit will rebrand as Grupo Etex. The group also has investments worth US$77m planned over the next five years, according to Dinero magazine. The company holds a 12% share of the building materials market locally.
Colombia: Etex Group intends to invest US$77m in its Colombian production plants in the next few years. Currently, the firm operates on the local market through gypsum wallboard producer Gyplac and cement producer Skinco Colombit. The expansion plans are expected to create up to 1000 direct and indirect jobs accord to the Portfolio newspaper.
Colombia: Etex has appointed Agustin Cozzi as the top manager in Gyplac, a manufacturer of plasterboards based in Cartagena. The change follows the retirement of Felipe Montes after 23 years as head of Skinco Colombit. Mauricio Lopez, who was previously a manager at Gyplac, has become the top manager of Skinco Colombit, a firm with a factory for fibre cement products in Manizales. Miguel Fernando Rangel has been appointed as Etex's new top manager at the helm of Ceramica San Lorenzo, a manufacturer of floor and wall tiles in Sopo.
