Knauf India launches GIFAfloor System gypsum wallboard flooring
03 September 2025India: Knauf India has launched the GIFAfloor System, a gypsum panel-based flooring system. The system consists of high-density, fibre-core panels that are primed on both sides, and serves as an alternative to traditional wet construction methods, according to the producer. The range includes GIFA Floor DB Green raised-access floor systems, which can handle 4kN of weight, with 60 minutes’ fire resistance, and GIFAfloor FHB hollow floor systems, which can handle 20kN, with 90 minutes’ fire resistance.
CEO Sumit Bidani said "Our new GIFAfloor range reflects Knauf's drive to blend innovation with practicality. Each variant addresses a specific infrastructure need while delivering on durability, flexibility and environmental responsibility."
US: HydroBlok, which produces the extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam-core HydroBlok One wallboard, has raised US$6m in an extended Series A funding round. Pier 88 Investment Partners and Andina Capital Partners led the round. MarketLine News has reported that HydroBlok will use the capital infusion to accelerate its production roll-out in the US.
HydroBlok One is lightweight, waterproof and mould-resistant that halves build times and reduces costs by 30% compared with conventional gypsum wallboard, according to the developer.
CEO and co-founder Colin House said "I've never witnessed a response quite like this. Seeing builders light up when they grasp the time and cost savings of HydroBlok One is incredibly rewarding."
India: Knauf India has launched its new DewBloc moisture-resistant gypsum wallboard. The product features a novel additive formulation against moisture absorption and infiltration.
CEO Sumit Bidani said "Designed to combine strength, durability and aesthetic appeal, DewBloc addresses a critical industry challenge - moisture damage in interiors. It is especially well-suited for wet area applications and offers reliable performance during the monsoon season."
Pladur launches two new joint compounds
12 February 2025Spain: Pladur has launched Pasta Pladur ST2 Superfina and Pasta Pladur ST30, two joint compounds. Pasta Pladur ST2 Superfina offers optimised sandability and aesthetic finish, and sets consistently within 120 minutes, even in cold and humid conditions. Meanwhile, Pasta Pladur ST30 offers a superior fine finish and ultra-rapid setting in 30 minutes.
Saint-Gobain Placo launches Longips Premium plaster
19 June 2024Spain: Saint-Gobain Placo has launched Longips Premium plaster for interior coatings. The product offers an ‘enhanced formula’ with more consistent mixing, easier smoothing and optimised setting. It is available in 17kg bags with a new ‘modern, dynamic design.’
Saint-Gobain Placo said "The new Longips Premium solution reflects Placo's commitment to building better for people and the planet, always guided by Saint-Gobain Group's common purpose of making the world a better home."
France: Saint-Gobain Placo has launched Glasroc X 13, a ‘three-in-one’ gypsum wallboard for use in façades and exterior shells for wood-frame structures. The producer says that the board embodies three key benefits for wooden construction applications: fire protection, weather resistance and stability. It can be left uncovered for up to six months before cladding, and is available in 1200mm or 1250mm widths.
US: Xeriant has hired the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and another accreditation agency to test its NEXBOARD waste plastic-based wallboard for the construction market. The producer says that tests will include the NFPA 286 and the ASTM E84 fire safety tests, as well as tests of tensile strength, hardness, water resistance, acoustic and thermal insulating performance, and volatile organic compound emissions.
